WHAT WE DID
Open house for all those who have a project or an interesting expertise to work with us
Quarry Up, Studio Volpi Innovation Hub has opened its Carnago office to the public to raise awareness of the environment, contexts and people with which it operates. An exclusive appointment to share and feel the energy and the passion that bring ideas to life!
Thanks to the Open Day, professionals, startuppers, young entrepreneurs, young people interested in creating innovative companies and all those interested in learning about Quarry Up were welcomed. All in a magical Christmas atmosphere. The attendees had the possibilities to experience virtual reality. Many CVs have been collected with different skills and many projects and initiatives have been reviewed.
On 24 and 25 March 15 minutes to Jump In was staged, the first Jump In “Live” that Quarry Up organized to meet the many participants and listen to their projects. The ideas were so varied to require a careful evaluation by the members, to study their feasibility, but above all their suitability for this year’s object: digital for the industry.
The event was structured with the pitch speech formula: 15 minutes available to each inventor or team to present the idea. In two days over 100 participants followed one another in front of Quarry Up jury and international experts in design, engineering and innovation.
The projects presented touched different sectors, from healthcare to video games and from personal care to catering. New innovative technologies, but also new innovative applications for technologies already widely used.
Thanks to the event, a project was selected for incubation and three designers were hired by Studio Volpi.
Quarry Up and Istituto Marangoni collaborated with the aim of discussing and deepening a promising technology and its potential when applied to furniture products. The Product Development course of the second year was briefed and together with the professors the project scope was defined and launched: “applicability of XX technology to furnishing products”.
Thanks to the strong technical knowledge, the Quarry Up team helped the students to understand the technology and its potential.
In the following three months, the young designers have identified the possible areas of application starting from the analysis of possible needs to fill and elaborate new concepts: from the definition of new living spaces, to the development of specific furnishings for hospitals or nursery, delivering renewed, enhanced and totally new customer experience thanks to the exploitation of the potential and differences of this technology when compared to those on the market.
Currently, the Quarry Up team, using its skills in engineering, marketing, branding, digital and design, is evaluating the outcome of the seminar -10 projects- to hypothesize a plan of action that provides technical feasibility and consequent definition of the business case.
